The Midweek Journal: A writing series
ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS
She runs through
the lush grass
smells of Spring
freshly cut, earthy scents
tulips planted in the yard
Her blonde hair cut short with bangs
not a care in the world.
Playing with her imaginary friend
When did it stop?
The carefree existence
Disconnected
She stands tall now
With a long flowing gown, embroidered with delicate flowers
Her hair flowing
meditating on her yellow tufted pillow
connecting back to that carefree existence
to her childlike nature
she continues her journey
the path to return.
returning home to oneself.
Now she sees water
Flowing with a similar nature to her long golden wavy hair. Arroyo — a word that means the river, or ‘brook’ — but not just any river, specifically a river in the arid, dry desert, set in a canyon, a valley in which creativity flows.
